The Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Gala Awards Dinner is one of the major social events of the New York area bankruptcy bench and bar. Nearly 1,000 attendees, including many of the leading bankruptcy judges and practitioners from New York and around the country attend the dinner. We are excited to celebrate the 25th Annual Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Gala Awards Dinner at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.

The Gala Awards Dinner is the culminating event of the annual Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition sponsored by St. John’s School of Law and the American Bankruptcy Institute. The competition is widely recognized as one of the nation’s preeminent moot court competitions. The Gala Awards Dinner is supported by generous contributions of bankruptcy law firms and lawyers who purchase tables, tickets and advertisements. The cocktail hour and seated dinner include the announcement of the winners of the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition.

The competition is well known for the quality of its judging. New York is a center of bankruptcy practice, and area bankruptcy practitioners judge the preliminary rounds and briefs. It promotes and recognizes the finest oral and written advocacy on significant issues in bankruptcy practice. More than 60 law school teams participate, making this the largest single site appellate moot court competition. Each year the problem raises two hot topics in chapter 11 practice.  More information on the competition, including the fact pattern, can be accessed at www.stjohns.edu/law/Duberstein.
